Arrest Made in Case of Shaq’s Stolen Range Rover

December 10, 2025

For weeks, the saga of Shaquille O’Neal’s missing custom 2025 Range Rover has been a real-life crime thriller—one involving cross-country investigations, high-end car theft rings, and a luxury SUV built to fit a 7-foot-1 Hall of Famer. Now, authorities say they finally have their first major breakthrough.

After an intense multi-agency effort, investigators arrested a suspect believed to be a central figure in a large-scale vehicle theft operation connected to the disappearance of Shaq’s $180,000 Range Rover. The arrest, made in New York, marks the most significant development yet in a case that spans from Georgia to the Middle East.

Shaq’s SUV was originally taken on October 20 from a business in the Dahlonega, Georgia area. It was supposed to be transported to Louisiana so Shaq could use it during an LSU weekend appearance—but the vehicle vanished en route. That sparked a full-scale investigation across multiple jurisdictions, including Lumpkin County deputies, telecommunications companies, vehicle telematics teams, and out-of-state police departments.

A Sophisticated Operation

Ahmad Abdelrahman, spokesperson for Effortless Motors—the California shop that custom-built Shaq’s oversized interior—said the theft wasn’t your average joyride or one-off scam. This was organized crime.

Abdelrahman explained that Effortless Motors had booked transportation through FirstLine Trucking LLC, only to later be told the company’s systems were “hacked.” That claim immediately raised red flags. Weeks later, his suspicions were confirmed.

“I’ve been working with a detective the whole time,” Abdelrahman said. “They just arrested one of the main ringleaders in this whole operation. It’s a big sting. They’re taking, like, 40 cars a week.”

Authorities believe two major operators were involved—one now in custody and the other overseas. Investigators also confirmed that Shaq’s Range Rover passed through multiple hands before disappearing somewhere in the Atlanta area. Each handoff added complexity to the trail, prompting deputies to execute multiple search warrants with help from tech companies tracking communications and vehicle movement.

A Missing SUV Built for a Giant

This wasn’t just any Range Rover. Effortless Motors redesigned the entire interior to accommodate Shaq’s massive frame, adding custom seating, extended legroom, and specialized comfort features tailored to the Big Diesel himself. The company has worked on several of Shaq’s vehicles since 2023, making them familiar with the ultra-specific engineering required to keep one of the largest athletes in sports history riding comfortably.

Even with the new arrest, the Range Rover itself is still missing—and may already be overseas. Investigators believe it was quickly funneled out of the country as part of an international luxury-vehicle pipeline.

Still, the arrest represents major momentum. Shaq has been kept closely updated and is relieved to see real progress, according to Abdelrahman.

The case isn’t over. More arrests are expected, more search warrants are active, and the hunt for the SUV continues. But for the first time since October, authorities believe they’re close to unraveling the full picture of what happened to Shaq’s missing ride.
