Regular readers of this here ShaqFu Radio blog… you know we’re big on lists. Some of them the big man comes up with himself. Some are put together by others, and may (or may not) feature O’Neal in some way or another. Almost always something fun and interesting to react to.
Today, another list, but on a topic that frankly, we don’t remember hearing or seeing in the past. And our man Shaq is right there, in the middle of yet another “best of” list.
This latest list got the team at Inside the NBA totally worked up and all-hands-on-deck with comments and laughs. The list? A brand new ranking from GQ – that’s Gentlemen’s Quarterly magazine, for those that don’t recognize the brand. List name: Top 10 Sexiest Bald Men on the Planet. No, we’re not kidding. It’s a thing.
And yes, our man Shaq is right there, on the sexy / bald list! Who else? Actors Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, and “The Rock,” Dwayne Johnson. Another basketball great, Michael Jordan, and also Britain’s Prince William. An odd pick, in our opinion, since we don’t find him fully bald (yet), nor all that good-looking. But hey, that’s just our opinion here in the ShaqFu Radio offices.
Not surprisingly, the fans went totally bonkers for this one. Someone posted to Instagram asking how much Shaq paid to be on the list, and it was off to the races for the rest of the night.
Of course Shaq took it all in… offering his best GQ-model pose at one point.
Kenny Smith wondered out loud exactly who was voting for this list, and where was it coming from, saying, “We want to congratulate Shaquille O’Neal. He was voted one of the 10 sexiest bald men in the world by GQ South Africa.” (BTW, we don’t even know if there is such a thing…)
Of course Sir Charles had plenty to say about it. “Dude, I’m one of the ten sexiest men in America, not South America.” (We’re guessing that Barkley meant South Africa, as Smith said, and that he just got his countries mixed up a bit.)
O’Neal would have none of it. “You just mad because you ain’t on the list,” he shot back. From now on just call me Shaquie number nine.” O’Neal landed ninth on the list.
So in case you’re wondering, GQ says it put the list together based on a recent study of searches conducted online by Google. We’re wondering who goes to Google to ask who the sexiest bald man is? And again, we’ve got to wonder… Prince William? Really?
