Victor Wembanyama just delivered the kind of playoff performance that makes basketball fans stop scrolling, sit down, and say, “Wait… did that really happen?”
The San Antonio Spurs superstar dropped an absolutely ridiculous 41 points and 24 rebounds in a thrilling 122-115 double-overtime win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. And while the basketball world was already losing its mind over Wemby’s performance, Shaquille O’Neal decided to add a little extra spice to the conversation.
Because of course he did.
During Inside the NBA, Shaq gave the young French phenom a brand-new nickname that nobody saw coming.
“His American name is Tim Robinson,” Shaq joked. “He played like Tim Duncan and David Robinson.”
Honestly? That might be the most Shaq nickname ever created.
The name is a mashup of two legendary Spurs icons — Tim Duncan and David Robinson — two Hall of Fame big men who helped build San Antonio into one of the NBA’s greatest dynasties. Together, they won championships, dominated the paint, and became basketball royalty in Texas.
Now Shaq thinks Wemby is carrying pieces of both legends.
And coming from Shaq, that praise means something.

The big fella has never exactly been known for handing out compliments to modern centers like free samples at Costco. In fact, Shaq has spent years roasting today’s big men for being too soft, too perimeter-focused, or too obsessed with launching three-pointers instead of battling inside.
But Wembanyama? Different story.
What really impressed Shaq was the way the 7-foot-4 superstar attacked the game old-school style. Despite being known for his outside shooting and guard-like skills, Wemby only attempted two three-pointers in the double-overtime victory. Instead, he punished defenders inside, controlled the boards, blocked shots, and completely took over the paint.
That’s exactly the kind of basketball Shaq loves.
And then came the biggest compliment of all.
“Wemby is the first perfect big man that’s ever been created,” Shaq said.
That’s not small praise. That’s Shaq basically sounding like a scientist who just watched someone build the ultimate basketball lab experiment.
Fans already know Wembanyama by nicknames like “The Alien” because, frankly, normal basketball rules don’t seem to apply to him. The combination of size, skill, touch, defense, and mobility feels almost unfair at times. One minute he’s swatting shots into the third row, the next he’s gliding down the floor like a point guard.

And now he’s just three wins away from reaching the NBA Finals.
Not bad for a guy who’s barely old enough to rent a car.
Spurs fans are already dreaming about another dynasty, and performances like this only crank the hype meter into overdrive. If Wemby keeps playing like a mix of Duncan, Robinson, and something from another planet entirely, the rest of the NBA may have a serious problem on its hands.
As for “Tim Robinson”?
It sounds less like a basketball superstar and more like the guy who fixes your air conditioner on Tuesdays.
But hey, if Shaq says it with enough confidence, maybe the nickname actually sticks.
Then again, “The Alien” still sounds way cooler.
