Shaq Expands His Business Empire with New Role

October 13, 2025

Shaquille O’Neal has long proven that his game extends far beyond the basketball court. From championship rings to restaurant chains, from big-screen cameos to boardroom seats, “The Big Aristotle” has built a business empire that’s as massive as his 7-foot-1 frame. Now, Shaq is adding a whole new arena to his resume — the world of infrastructure investment.

This week, alternative investment firm Jacmel Partners announced that Shaquille O’Neal has joined as a founding partner of Jacmel Infrastructure, a new division focused on large-scale infrastructure projects across the United States. The platform will invest in sectors like transportation, energy, digital technology, and community development — all areas poised to shape the nation’s future.

For Shaq, this is more than just another deal — it’s a mission. “One of my core values is that if you have a positive impact on people’s lives, you will win,” O’Neal said. “I’ve had an opportunity to build a diverse portfolio of business interests over the years, but this marks my official foray into infrastructure, and I know these projects will have a major impact on our communities.”

O’Neal joins co-managing partners Nick Jean-Baptiste and Jorge Mora, who lead Jacmel Infrastructure’s investment team. Together, the group plans to back projects that create jobs, improve city infrastructure, and help revitalize underserved neighborhoods. The platform aims to serve as a strategic partner for developers, government agencies, and large infrastructure managers seeking to make long-term, meaningful change.

Shaq’s involvement brings instant visibility and credibility to the initiative. Known for turning business ventures into success stories — from his early investment in Google to his current role as the second-largest individual shareholder of Authentic Brands Group (the company behind Reebok, Champion, and Barneys New York) — O’Neal has become one of the most respected athlete-entrepreneurs in the world.

Jacmel Infrastructure’s mission fits neatly into Shaq’s lifelong commitment to giving back. Through The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation, he’s already helped countless underserved kids and families across the country. Now, with this infrastructure focus, he’s scaling that impact to entire communities — investing not just in people, but in the places they live.

In May, Jacmel Infrastructure made headlines for its investment in LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the company behind the massive redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B. With O’Neal now on board, the firm’s ambitions appear to be growing even bigger.

Co-founder Jorge Mora said, “Shaquille’s drive, business acumen, and commitment to impactful investments make him a perfect partner as we pursue transformative infrastructure projects.”

Nick Jean-Baptiste added, “Growing up in Orlando, I saw firsthand Shaquille’s influence both on and off the court. Now, as partners, we’re focused on building a legacy that strengthens communities for generations.”

For Shaq, the goal remains simple: make a difference while staying true to his values. “It’s not about how much money I make,” he once said. “It’s about the honor and respect that come with helping others.” With this move, it’s clear he’s doing exactly that — one bridge, one airport, one community at a time.
